Free and discounted travel
Free or discounted travel usually depends on residence or status (pensioner, pupil, student) and a card issued by the operator or the state (IJPP):
- Children under 6 — free
- Pensioners, people over 65, holders of the European Disability Card and war veterans — free IJPP ticket under the state scheme (condition: not employed); issued at the operator’s sales points
- Pupils and students — subsidised monthly IJPP ticket (state subsidy, IJPP card)
Good to know
- The LPP price list is valid from 1 Sep 2026. The zone is set by where you board; a trip within one zone (1, 2 or 3) is charged as one zone.
- Luggage, prams, dogs and other small animals travel free.
- IJPP (integrated public passenger transport) is the national single-ticket system: one card works on city buses, intercity buses and trains, and carries subsidised tickets for pupils and students and free tickets for pensioners.
