Belgrade airport → city: every option compared

Option 1: the regular city bus — free

Like all Belgrade public transport since 1 January 2025, the regular city bus line serving the airport is completely free. No ticket, no card — walk out of arrivals, find the city bus stop and board. Expect 40–60 minutes to the centre depending on traffic, with regular city stops along the way.

Option 2: the A1 minibus — 400 RSD, faster

The A1 express minibus runs between the airport and the city with few stops. A ticket costs 400 dinars, sold only on board, cash only, no change given — have the exact amount ready. It is quicker than the city bus and drops you closer to the very centre.

Best for: solo travellers in a mild hurry who have dinars on hand.

Option 3: taxi or pre-booked transfer

At the airport, use the official taxi desk in arrivals — you get a voucher with a fixed zone price before you walk out, which protects you from the overcharging that unofficial drivers at the door attempt. Ride-hailing apps also operate in Belgrade.

A pre-booked transfer beats all of it for night arrivals, groups and family-with-luggage situations: fixed price agreed in advance, driver waiting with a name sign, no negotiation at 2 a.m.

Night arrivals

City buses stop around midnight and restart around 4 a.m. Between those hours your realistic options are a taxi (voucher desk) or a pre-booked transfer — for a late flight, booking the transfer before you fly is the stress-free move.

Which option for which traveller

• Backpacker, daytime arrival → free city bus. Zero cost, scenic intro to New Belgrade.
• Solo with a carry-on, mild hurry → A1 minibus. 400 RSD, fewer stops, central drop-off.
• Family, group or serious luggage → pre-booked transfer. Fixed price, driver waiting, no negotiation.
• Arrival between midnight and 4 a.m. → taxi voucher desk or pre-booked transfer; city buses are asleep.
• Business trip on a receipt → pre-booked transfer wins again: the price exists in writing before you land.

Getting back to the airport

Work backwards from your departure: 30–45 minutes of driving plus a traffic buffer, plus the wait for your chosen service. From the centre, leaving 3 hours before a European flight is comfortable outside rush hour; in weekday afternoon rush towards Surčin, add another 30 minutes.
