GSP Belgrade has put out a tender for the supply, delivery and installation of tram sleepers on the Ada Bridge, worth 55 million dinars.
According to the technical specification published on the public procurement portal, the job covers the supply, delivery and installation of 1,470 beech tram sleepers on the bridge's track structure. The contract also covers all associated works — replacing sleepers, levelling and adjusting the track, additional tamping, and aluminothermic welding.
Two-stage quality control
The technical specification requires the winning bidder to engage an independent accredited laboratory, which checks the sleepers' quality at two points.
The first check applies to sleepers in the so-called "white phase" — the laboratory issues a quantitative and qualitative acceptance report confirming they meet dimensional and quality acceptance checks and are ready for final pressure chemical treatment.
The second check follows impregnation: the laboratory issues a separate report confirming the impregnated sleepers are ready for installation.
The documentation requires an authorised GSP Belgrade representative to be present while the laboratory works, at the bidder's expense. The laboratory itself must be listed in the public register of accredited bodies of the country where the sleepers are procured or installed.
Night-only works
Installation will, according to the documentation, take place exclusively during a night window, from 11 PM to 4 AM, replacing an average of 30 to 50 sleepers per night.
