Nikola Tesla Airport to the centre — every public transport option

Minibus line A1 is the express link between the airport and the city, with few intermediate stops. A ticket costs 400 dinars and is sold exclusively on board, cash only, in dinars — the vehicle gives no change, so have the exact amount ready. A1 is one of the few remaining paid exceptions in Belgrade’s otherwise free network.

If speed matters and you carry luggage, A1 is the most comfortable public transport choice. Check the exact timetable and route on the A1 line page on busevi.rs.

The airport is also served by a regular city bus line, which — like the whole city network since 1 January 2025 — is completely free. No ticket needed: just board.

The ride takes longer than A1 because it serves regular stops, but it covers the same route for zero dinars. Find the line number, all stops and every departure (including the first and last for late arrivals) by typing “aerodrom” into the search on busevi.rs.

The airport is about 18 km from central Belgrade. With normal traffic expect 30–45 minutes; longer during rush hour (weekday mornings towards the city, afternoons towards the airport). Leave a buffer for early flights — the motorway towards Surčin can jam.

Public transport to the airport does not run all night. If you land after the last departure, your options are a taxi or a pre-arranged ride — in that case use only the authorised taxi rank at arrivals, with fixed zone prices you receive at the taxi desk.

Before your flight, check the last departure towards the city on busevi.rs — so you know in advance whether you will catch a bus or need plan B.

• For A1 prepare exactly 400 RSD in cash — no change is given and cards are not accepted.
• Currency exchange and ATMs are available at arrivals — withdraw a small amount in dinars before exiting.
• City buses can be crowded at rush hour — with large suitcases A1 is the more comfortable pick.

Both the A1 and the city bus head for the centre — but if you are staying in Vračar, Zvezdara or Zemun, you will need to transfer somewhere. The simplest approach: enter “Nikola Tesla Airport” as origin and your accommodation address as destination in the journey planner — you get the full route with the transfer point and times.

Rule of thumb: transfer at the big central hubs where the most lines call — most options, shortest waits.

Work backwards: 30–45 minutes of riding, plus a traffic buffer, plus the wait for your line’s departure. In practice, for a 10:00 flight departing from the centre, leaving around 7:00–7:15 is comfortable; in rush hour towards Surčin add another 20–30 minutes.
